SF-60 is the smallest Santiago FRP purlin: a single-cell glass fibre box 60 mm tall and 30 mm wide with a 3 mm wall, weighing 0.98 kg per metre. Under plastic roof sheets with purlin rows 660 mm apart it spans 1.9 m at 0.65 kPa basic wind pressure and 1.2 m at 1.85 kPa.
| Item | SF-60 |
|---|---|
| Section | Box 60 × 30 mm, 3 mm wall, single cell |
| Weight | 0.98 kg/m (a 6 m length is about 5.9 kg) |
| Material | Pultruded FRP: glass fibre in polyester resin, no metal |
| Fittings | 304 stainless L-brackets, bolts, sleeves, screws and end caps |
How far can SF-60 span?
| Basic wind pressure W0 | 0.65 kPa | 0.95 kPa | 1.25 kPa | 1.55 kPa | 1.85 kPa |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maximum rafter spacing | 1.9 m | 1.6 m | 1.4 m | 1.3 m | 1.2 m |
Values are for plastic roof sheets or ASA/PVC roof tiles, purlin rows 660 mm apart and a deflection limit of L/200. The five pressures match Vietnamese wind zones I to V; outside Vietnam, compare them with the design wind pressure of your site.

Where does SF-60 fit?
Verandas, carports, porches and small seaside houses whose rafters are close together, about 1.2 – 1.5 m. A small steel purlin near the sea rusts through fast because salt stays in the gap under the sheet. SF-60 has no metal, so there is nothing for the salt to attack.
When is SF-60 too small?
- Rafters 1.5 m apart at 1.25 kPa or more: choose SF-80.
- Tiled roofs steeper than 25° with rafters more than 1.2 m apart: the 30 mm wide box bends sideways under the tiles, so add purlin ties or use SF-80.
- Rows along the eaves, corners and gables, where wind suction is highest: one size up.
Frequently asked questions
What size is SF-60?
A single-cell FRP box 60 × 30 mm with a 3 mm wall, 0.98 kg per metre.
What rafter spacing suits SF-60?
Up to 1.9 m at 0.65 kPa, 1.6 m at 0.95 kPa, 1.4 m at 1.25 kPa, 1.3 m at 1.55 kPa and 1.2 m at 1.85 kPa basic wind pressure, for plastic roof sheets with purlins 660 mm apart.
When should I use SF-80 instead?
When your rafter spacing is above the SF-60 value for your wind pressure, or on steep tiled roofs with rafters more than 1.2 m apart.
