Mr Quyen - Santiago. Posted 03/11/2026
A first container of Santiago ASA/PVC roofing from Vietnam goes through 7 steps: an enquiry with drawings, free samples (the buyer pays the courier), a written quotation, a proforma invoice with deposit terms agreed in writing, about 5 days of production, loading of about 5,000 m into one 40 ft container, and arrival with the documents your broker needs. Colours, profiles and accessories can be mixed in that one container.

What are the 7 steps of a first container order?
| Step | What you do | What Santiago does | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Enquiry | Send drawings or a length list, colours, thickness and destination port | Lists sheet lengths and accessories from the drawings | Depends on how complete the enquiry is |
| 2. Samples | Pay the courier and check the samples on site | Sends free samples of the profiles and colours you name | Courier time |
| 3. Quotation | Check every length, colour and accessory line | Quotes in writing, per order | Once drawings and samples are settled |
| 4. Proforma and deposit | Pay the deposit on the terms agreed in writing | Issues the proforma invoice | As agreed |
| 5. Production | Put any last change in writing before production starts | Produces and cuts each sheet to the ordered lengths | About 5 days |
| 6. Loading | Confirm the shipping term agreed in the quotation | Loads one 40 ft container, about 5,000 m, mixed as ordered | At the factory in Vietnam |
| 7. Documents and arrival | Clear customs with your broker and check the goods | Sends the invoice, packing list, B/L, C/O and CQ | Sailing time depends on the route |
What is the MOQ for roofing sheets from Vietnam?
Santiago's minimum export order is one 40 ft container, which holds about 5,000 m of sheet. That is running metres: with the tile sheet's 0.96 m cover width, 5,000 m covers up to about 4,800 m² of roof before any cutting. The minimum applies to the container, not to each colour or profile. One load can carry tile sheets in several colours, corrugated sheets, and the ridge caps, terminals, eave sealing tiles and ASA screw caps to match, each as its own line on the packing list.
For a dealer, a mixed container is the normal first order: larger runs of the colours that sell best locally, smaller runs of the rest, and the accessories that finish each roof. For a single building the container is far more than one roof needs, which is why most owners of one roof buy through an importer or dealer.
Step 1: what should the first enquiry include?
- Drawings of the roofs, or a list of sheet lengths. Tile sheets are cut to order in 219 mm steps, so the lengths decide the order.
- Profile: Spanish-style tile sheet (1.05 m wide, 0.96 m cover) or a corrugated profile.
- Thickness: 2.5 or 3.0 mm. 2.5 mm is the minimum for a roof and for the 10-year warranty.
- Colours: dark grey, red, blue, orange or chocolate as standard; green, white and purple to order. Say if you want a dark underside, also made to order.
- Accessories: ridge cap, hip ridge, three-way and four-way pieces, ridge terminals, eave sealing tile, vertical wall flashing and ASA screw caps.
- Destination port and the shipping term you want.
Step 2: what do you check on a free sample?
Samples are free; you pay the courier. Use them for the checks a photo cannot show, and keep them afterwards as the reference for the colour and thickness of your container. If you are comparing more than one PVC roofing sheet supplier, ask each for the same profile and thickness so the samples can be compared side by side.
- Thickness at the cut edge: at least 2.5 mm.
- The layers at the cut edge: an ASA top layer, the PVC layers and the milky-white base, co-extruded with no glue.
- Colour in daylight, on your site, next to the walls it will sit above.
- The papers behind the sample: ISO 9001:2015 certificate ICI-23087.D, Quatest test results, and the quality certificate (CQ) that comes with every lot.

Steps 3 and 4: what is in the quotation and the proforma?
The quotation comes in writing, per order. It lists each line with its profile, colour, thickness, length and quantity, the accessories line by line, and the shipping term. Read the length list line by line before you accept it: sheets are cut to those lengths, so a wrong length becomes a wrong sheet.
Once the quotation is accepted, Santiago issues a proforma invoice. The deposit and the balance are paid on the terms agreed in writing for that order, and any later change, a colour or a length, is agreed in writing too.
Steps 5 and 6: what happens in production and at loading?
Production takes about 5 days. Each tile sheet is cut to its ordered length in whole 219 mm steps, and every lot gets its quality certificate (CQ). The container is then loaded at the factory in Vietnam: about 5,000 m of sheet in one 40 ft container, with colours, profiles and accessories in the mix you ordered.
Ask for photos of the loaded container. Together with the packing list and the CQ, they are your record of what left the factory.

Which documents come with a container of roofing sheets?
| Document | What it shows | Who uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial invoice | The goods, quantities, value and HS code 3925.90.00 | Your customs broker, for duty |
| Packing list | Each line: product, colour, length and quantity | You, to check the goods on arrival, and your broker |
| Bill of lading (B/L) | The shipment and the right to collect it | You or your forwarder, to release the container at the port |
| Certificate of origin (C/O) | That the goods were made in Vietnam; the form depends on your market | Your broker, to claim a trade-agreement duty rate where one applies |
| Quality certificate (CQ) | The quality results for each lot | You, for your records and your own customers |
Which certificate of origin applies to my market?
| Market | Certificate of origin | Note |
|---|---|---|
| ASEAN members, for example Thailand and Laos | Form D | Santiago has exported to Thailand since 2024 |
| India | Form AI | ASEAN–India agreement; Santiago has exported to India since 2023 |
| Mexico and Peru | CPTPP proof of origin | Under the CPTPP |
| Chile | CPTPP proof of origin or Form VC | Your broker chooses which one to use |
| USA and Venezuela | None: no preference with Vietnam | Santiago has exported to the USA since 2025 |
| Other markets | None on Santiago's list | Check with your customs broker or clearing agent |
Santiago does not quote duty rates. The rate for HS 3925.90.00 is set by the importing country, and your broker should confirm it, and whether a C/O lowers it, before you pay the deposit.
Step 7: what do you check when the container arrives?
- Compare the container and seal numbers with the bill of lading before unloading.
- Count every packing list line as you unload: product, colour, length and quantity.
- Keep the CQ for each lot with the packing list.
- Look for transport damage before signing for the delivery, and photograph anything you find.
- Report any difference to Santiago in writing, with the photos and the packing list line.
- Pass Santiago's installation videos to your installers before the first roof goes on. The 10-year warranty for 2.5 mm and thicker sheets applies when the roof is installed as Santiago recommends.

How is a container of tile sheets loaded at the factory?
Mr Quyen explains in English how Santiago loads orange tile sheets for export. The sheets slide down a ramp from the stack into the container, and workers in Santiago uniforms stack them inside.

What can a sample prove before you order a container?
The 26-second short shows a Santiago truck rolling across two blue sheets on the yard, one tile-profile and one corrugated. Treat it as a demonstration: on a roof, purlins still go less than 700 mm apart.
