Mr Quyen - Santiago. Posted 11/10/2026

A Santiago export order is produced and packed in about 5 days after the order is confirmed. Sheets and tiles are cut to the lengths on the order, staged at the factory and carried into the container on a conveyor ramp. The minimum order is one 40 ft container, about 5,000 m of sheet, and every shipment leaves with an invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin.

What happens between the order and the container?

  1. The buyer confirms the order in writing: profile, colour, thickness, length of each item, quantity and destination port.
  2. Production and packing take about 5 days. Each sheet or tile is cut to the length on the order, so the roof needs no end laps on site.
  3. Finished stock is staged at the factory until the container arrives.
  4. The container is loaded at the factory gate, mostly by conveyor ramp.
  5. Santiago sends the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin to the buyer.

How much fits in one container?

Santiago's minimum export order is one 40 ft container, which holds about 5,000 m of roofing sheet. The real quantity depends on the profile and thickness, because a 3.0 mm tile stacks taller than a 2.5 mm sheet. One container can carry several colours and profiles; each line is listed separately on the packing list.

Why are roofing sheets loaded by conveyor ramp?

Long sheets bend if two people carry them up a steep step into a container. The conveyor ramp runs from the ground to the container floor, so the sheet slides up flat and the loaders inside lift it off and stack it. It also keeps the ASA surface off the concrete.

Is there a limit on sheet length?

Yes. The inside of a 40 ft container is about 12 m long, so a single sheet cannot be longer than that. For a longer roof slope, Santiago splits the slope into two sheets with an overlap and agrees the cut lengths with the buyer before production.
