Mr Quyen - Santiago. Posted 03/11/2026
For a house, most buyers choose the Spanish-style ASA/PVC roof tile sheet: from the street it reads as a tile roof, but it goes on in long sheets with matching ridge and hip pieces. Corrugated 5, 6 and 11-wave sheets suit warehouses, farms, carports and verandas. Both types are 2.5 – 3.0 mm thick, rust-free and made in five standard colours.

Which roof sheet suits which building?
| Building | Sheet | Why |
|---|---|---|
| House, bungalow | Roof tile sheet | Tile look, five colours |
| Villa, garden house | Roof tile sheet | Accessories for hip and gable roofs |
| Temple, ancestral hall | Roof tile sheet or half-round tile | Traditional roof shape |
| Warehouse, factory | 5 or 6-wave sheet | Long roofs, fast to lay, deep ribs drain well |
| Animal house | 5 or 6-wave sheet | No rust in ammonia |
| Carport, veranda | 11 or 5-wave sheet | Simple and low cost |
| House by the sea | Either | No salt rust |
Which roof shapes can be built with tile sheets?
Gable roofs, T and L-shaped roofs, hip roofs, pyramid roofs on gazebos and single-slope roofs against a wall can all be finished with Santiago accessories: top ridge, ridge terminals, diagonal ridges, three-way and four-way pieces, eave pieces and wall flashing. The accessories checklist lists what each shape needs.

Which details make a tile-sheet roof look right?
- Order every sheet length in whole 219 mm tile steps, so the steps line up across the roof.
- Set the purlins 440 or 660 mm apart, under the foot of a step, so the screws disappear into the shadow of the step.
- Use ridge and edge pieces in the same colour, from the same order.
- Pick the colour from a physical sample next to the wall colour; dark grey, red and chocolate are the most common on houses.

Why use tile sheets instead of clay or concrete tiles?
A tile sheet covers 0.96 m of width per running metre and weighs about 5.4 kg per m² at 2.5 mm, so it goes on fast and needs a lighter frame than heavy individual clay or concrete tiles. It bends without breaking and cannot rust, the ASA colour is rated for 30 years, and the roof is about 80% quieter in rain than bare metal sheet.

How does a PVC tile roof look on a finished house?
Mr Quyen presents, in English, a restaurant in Da Nang, Vietnam, roofed with red Santiago ASA/PVC tile sheets and filmed from a drone. The video also shows a house with a blue tile roof and red, blue and navy tile samples, which helps when matching roof colour to the walls.

How does a grey tile roof look on a building with a gutter?
Mr Quyen holds a green ASA/PVC sheet at the factory, then climbs onto a grey tile roof that installers are still screwing down, and finishes on a completed grey roof beside the gutter.

What does a building re-roofed in blue sheets look like?
The short starts with a torch on the sheet stack and finishes on a warehouse roof where Mr Quyen, in a white helmet, stands on new blue sheets while installers work. A flame test is not a fire rating.
