Mr Quyen - Santiago. Posted 03/11/2026
Santiago ASA/PVC roofing sheets and roof tiles come in five standard colours: dark grey, red, blue, orange and chocolate. The colour sits in the ASA top layer and is rated to last 30 years. Other colours, such as green, have been made for projects to order. Judge a colour from a physical sample, which Santiago sends free; you pay only the courier.

Which colours are available?
The five standard colours are made for the corrugated sheets, the roof tile and the matching ridge and edge pieces. In Santiago's projects in Vietnam they tend to go on these buildings:
| Colour | Where buyers often use it |
|---|---|
| Dark grey | Modern houses, villas, resorts; shows dust least |
| Red | Houses with a traditional look, temples, school buildings |
| Blue | Warehouses, factories, farms, sheds |
| Orange | Gazebos, homestays, houses in gardens and by the sea |
| Chocolate | Villas, garden houses, wooden houses |
Green sheets are common on factories in Vietnam and have been produced to order, as have other shades. Ask Santiago before you plan a non-standard colour, because it is made for your order rather than taken from stock.

Will a PVC roof colour fade?
The colour is carried by the ASA surface layer, which blocks UV. Santiago tested the ASA layer under 2,000 hours of artificial UV light with no change in colour, and rates the colour to last 30 years. Cheaper plain PVC sheets without an ASA layer are the ones that chalk and fade first.
Does a light colour make the roof cooler?
As a general rule, light colours absorb less sunlight than dark ones. Santiago has not published a separate heat test for each colour, though. Its figure of about 6 – 8 °C cooler than bare metal sheets applies to its ASA/PVC sheets as a material, so choose the colour for the building and the street, and expect the cooling from the sheet itself.

How do I judge a colour before ordering?
- Ask for physical samples of the colours you are considering; samples are free and you pay the courier.
- Look at them outdoors in daylight, next to the wall colour of the building. A screen never shows the real shade.
- Order the ridge and edge pieces in the same colour in the same order, so they come from the same production.
- Colours can be mixed in one 40 ft container, which holds about 5,000 m of sheet.

What do red and blue PVC tile roofs look like on real buildings?
Mr Quyen presents, in English, a restaurant in Da Nang, Vietnam, roofed with red Santiago ASA/PVC tile sheets and filmed from a drone. The video also shows red, blue and navy tile samples on a wooden shelf and a house with a blue tile roof.

More short videos: roof colours in daylight
The clips below come from Santiago's own YouTube channel and were filmed at the factory in Vietnam or on Santiago roofs.
What do red, blue and grey sheets look like on real roofs?
This one-minute short moves from red tile sheets going up onto a house to a flame test on a stack of sheets, then a blue warehouse roof under installation. A flame test is a demonstration, not a fire rating.

What does a grey tile-profile roof look like up close?
Installers screw grey Santiago tile sheets down on a roof while Mr Quyen and a colleague walk along the finished section near the gutter. The short opens in the factory with a green sheet.

Do the coloured sheets hold up to heat and weight? Yard tests
The short opens with a red ridge piece under a truck tyre, then Mr Quyen holds a gas torch to blue and red tile sheets on the factory yard and ends on strapped stacks of sheets ready to ship. A flame test is a demonstration, not a fire rating.
