PVC and polycarbonate roofing do different jobs. ASA/PVC sheets are opaque roofing: about 6 – 8 °C cooler underneath than bare metal and quieter in rain. Polycarbonate is used where you want light through the roof. Many carports, patios and warehouses use ASA/PVC for most of the roof and translucent sheets for a share of it.

Translucent sheets bringing daylight under a roof
Can I mix them on one roof?
Yes, if the profiles lap correctly. Santiago makes translucent glass-fibre composite skylight sheets in 6-wave and 11-wave profiles and as flat sheets; clear sheets pass up to 80 – 90% of daylight. For warehouses, about 5 – 10% of the roof area is a common starting point.
Which one for a patio or carport?
If you want shade and a cooler space, choose ASA/PVC. If you want light, choose translucent sheets, and accept more heat. A middle way is ASA/PVC with a few translucent sheets.

Is PVC roofing better than polycarbonate?
They serve different purposes: PVC for a cool, opaque roof; polycarbonate or composite skylight sheets for light.

Warmer underneath, because sunlight passes through it.
Can I put skylight sheets in a PVC roof?
Yes, if the profiles match. Send your sheet sizes to check.
