A UPVC roofing sheet is a rigid plastic roofing sheet made of unplasticised PVC. The better ones, often sold in the Philippines as PVC resin or ASA/PVC roofing, have an ASA top layer that blocks UV and holds the colour. Santiago ASA/PVC sheets are 2.5 – 3.0 mm thick, carry a 10-year warranty and are rated for a service life of more than 30 years.
UPVC, PVC resin, ASA/PVC: are they the same?

The label alone does not tell you the thickness or whether there is a UV layer. Ask for both.

How does it compare with GI and pre-painted roofing?
- Rust: PVC cannot rust, while GI sheets rust first at screw holes and laps, fast near the sea.
- Heat: about 6 – 8 °C cooler under the sheet than common bare metal.
- Noise: about 80% quieter in heavy rain.
- Price: higher per metre than thin GI sheets.
What should I check before buying?
- Thickness of 2.5 – 3.0 mm; Santiago gives no warranty below 2.5 mm.
- An ASA top layer for colour and UV.
- Profile: 5, 6 or 11 square waves, or a roof-tile profile.
- Written warranty terms.
