Mr Quyen - Santiago. Posted 21/10/2026
Indian importers buy Santiago ASA/UPVC roofing sheets and roof tiles from Vietnam by the 40 ft container, about 5,000 m of sheet per load. Santiago's export documents use HS code 3925.90.00, and each shipment can carry a Form AI certificate of origin under the ASEAN–India trade agreement. Sheets are 2.5 – 3.0 mm thick and cut to your lengths.

What is an ASA UPVC roofing sheet?
UPVC means unplasticised PVC, the rigid kind used for pipes and window frames. A Santiago sheet has a rigid PVC core that carries the load and cannot rust, and a top layer of ASA, a weather-resistant plastic that blocks UV and holds the colour. Santiago rates the colour for 30 years. A plain UPVC sheet has no ASA layer, so check the cut edge of a sample: an ASA sheet shows a coloured top skin over a lighter core.
Santiago has shipped this roofing to India since 2023. The same factory in Vietnam makes 5, 6 and 11-wave sheets and a Spanish-style roof tile, in dark grey, red, blue, orange and chocolate.
Which HS code goes on the documents?
Santiago's commercial invoice and certificate of origin list HS code 3925.90.00 (39259000) for ASA/PVC roofing sheets and tiles. The first six digits are shared internationally. India's eight-digit ITC-HS line, often called the HSN code, and the duty and GST under it are decided on the Indian side, so ask your customs broker to confirm the classification before you place the order.
What is Form AI and why does an Indian importer need it?
Form AI is the certificate of origin for the ASEAN–India Free Trade Area. It is issued in Vietnam by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the importer presents it to Indian customs to claim the preferential duty for goods of Vietnamese origin. A Form AI issued for Santiago ASA/PVC roofing sheets under HS 39259000 was certified on 24 September 2026; the export section below shows it with buyer details hidden. Ask for it on your quotation; it goes with the invoice, packing list and bill of lading.
What sizes and thicknesses can I order?
Indian buyers often think in feet and square feet, while Santiago quotes in millimetres. The table converts the cover width of each profile into square feet of roof, per running metre and for a sheet 12 ft (3.66 m) long.
| Profile | Cover width | Rib or step | Sq ft per running metre | Sq ft per 12 ft sheet |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 square waves | 1,000 mm | 32 mm ribs | 10.8 | 39.4 |
| 6 square waves | 950 mm | 34 mm ribs | 10.2 | 37.4 |
| 11 square waves | 1,000 mm | 20 mm ribs | 10.8 | 39.4 |
| Roof tile | 960 mm | 219 mm tile step | 10.3 | cut in 219 mm steps: 17 steps = 3.723 m (12.2 ft), 38.5 sq ft |
Order 2.5 or 3.0 mm. The 6 and 11-wave sheets can be made at 2.0 mm, but Santiago does not recommend sheets thinner than 2.5 mm and gives no warranty on them. Lengths are cut to order, so give the slope length plus overhang in feet or millimetres.

How many square feet does one 40 ft container cover?
A 40 ft container holds about 5,000 m of sheet. Multiply by the cover width and convert at 10.76 sq ft per m²:
| Container filled with | Metres of sheet | Roof area | Square feet |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 or 11-wave sheet | 5,000 m | 5,000 m² | about 53,800 sq ft |
| 6-wave sheet | 5,000 m | 4,750 m² | about 51,100 sq ft |
A dealer selling by the square foot can divide the landed cost of the container by these figures and compare it with local prices. Profiles, colours and accessories can be mixed in one container, and roof tiles load differently from sheets, so ask Santiago for a loading plan if your order includes tiles.
