Mr Quyen - Santiago. Posted 03/11/2026

Santiago makes ASA/PVC roofing sheets by co-extrusion. Virgin PVC and ASA are melted and pushed through one die at the same time, forming a single sheet with four layers and no glue. While still hot, the sheet runs through a forming die for the tile, 5, 6 or 11-wave profile. It is then cooled, cut to the length on the order and packed with quality papers for each lot.

What is a PVC roofing sheet made of?

LayerMaterialJob
1. SurfaceASABlocks UV, holds the colour, takes sun and rain
2. Protective layerVirgin PVCTakes impact and chemicals, slows heat transfer
3. CorePVC; a dark layer in corrugated sheets, a reinforcing layer in roof tilesKeeps the sheet stiff, stops light passing through, damps sound
4. BaseMilky-white PVCResists moisture from below

Santiago uses virgin PVC for the body of the sheet, not recycled plastic, and ASA only on the face that sees the sun.

What are the production steps?

  1. Raw materials: virgin PVC for the body layers, ASA for the surface, colour mixed for the order.
  2. Co-extrusion: all four layers leave the die together as one sheet, with no adhesive between them.
  3. Forming: the hot sheet passes through a die that shapes the roof tile steps or the 5, 6 or 11 square waves.
  4. Cooling and cutting: the sheet is cooled and cut to the lengths on the order; roof tiles are cut in whole 219 mm steps.
  5. Accessories: ridge, hip and edge pieces, and pre-bent ridge covers, are formed to size.
  6. Packing: bundles are strapped and labelled, and each lot leaves with a quality certificate (CQ) and certificate of origin.

How is quality checked?

  • The factory works under an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system (certificate ICI-23087.D).
  • Samples are tested at Quatest, Vietnam's standards and quality testing centres, for burning, soaking in hydrochloric acid, tension and compression.
  • The ASA layer went through 2,000 hours of artificial UV with no colour change, and the sheet's bending strength is above 1,000 N.
  • Every lot carries a CQ, and export lots also carry a certificate of origin.

Where are Santiago sheets made?

Santiago makes its ASA/PVC sheets and roof tiles at two factories in Vietnam. Importers can ask to visit by appointment; buyers who cannot travel start with free samples (courier paid) and check the cut edge, the thickness and the colour themselves. For export, production and loading take about 5 days after an order is confirmed.

What does a PVC roofing sheet factory look like inside?

Mr Quyen walks through the Santiago factory in Vietnam and explains it in English: roof tiles and ridge pieces in the yard, a green 5-wave sheet coming off the line, a delivery truck, and the warehouses where a container is being loaded.

What does a finished sheet look like after it leaves the line?

A short factory clip: a white tile sheet takes a worker's weight on the floor, a torch is aimed at red and blue sheets, and the Santiago team lines up in front of a container.

Which ridge pieces are made alongside the sheets?
