Which roof tile colours does Santiago make?

Santiago makes eight colours of ASA/PVC tile sheet. Five are standard and three are made to order for a specific project. The right-hand column below is a starting point for discussion with the owner or architect, not a rule.

Every colour comes with the same set of accessories: ridge cap, diagonal (hip) ridge, three-way and four-way pieces, ridge terminal, eave sealing tile, vertical wall flashing and ASA screw caps.

Will a PVC roof tile colour fade in the Thai sun?

The colour sits in the ASA top layer. ASA blocks UV, and in Santiago's testing the sheets showed no colour change after 2,000 hours of artificial UV. The colour is rated for 30 years, and the real service life of the sheet is 25 – 30 years. The warranty is 10 years for sheets 2.5 mm and thicker that are installed as Santiago recommends.

Under the ASA layer the sheet has three more layers, co-extruded at the same time with no glue: virgin PVC, a PVC core and a milky-white PVC base. The material is virgin, not recycled. Thickness is 2.5 or 3.0 mm, and 2.5 mm is the minimum for a roof.

Is a light-coloured roof cooler than a dark one?

Santiago has not measured a difference by colour. Its figure of about 6 – 8 °C cooler under the roof compares an ASA/PVC sheet with bare metal sheet, and the same goes for the rain noise figure of about 80% lower. Both are quoted for the sheet, not for a particular colour. So if heat is the main worry, the sheet itself is doing the work, and the colour can be chosen for how it looks on the building.

How do I judge a roof colour sample in daylight?

A colour chosen from a screen or a printed catalogue often looks different once the roof is up. A small physical sample, looked at the right way, avoids most surprises. Samples are free; the buyer pays the courier.

1. Ask for two or three colours, not one. Colours are easier to judge side by side.
2. Look at the samples outdoors, tilted at roughly the angle of the roof, at midday and again in the late afternoon. Strong overhead sun makes most colours look lighter; low evening light makes them warmer.
3. Hold each sample against the wall paint, window frames and any timber on the building.
4. Step back 10 m or more. People see a roof from the street, not from arm's length.
5. Photograph the samples together in the same light and compare those photos with each other, never with a catalogue picture.
6. Turn the sample over. The standard underside is milky white; a dark underside is made to order, for verandas and cafés where the roof has no ceiling.

Why order the ridge pieces and screw caps in the same colour?

Ridges, hips and roof edges are the lines people notice first, so a ridge cap that does not match shows from far away. Santiago makes all its accessories in the same colours as the sheets. Screw caps add up too: screws go through the top of the wave at 4 – 5 sets per m², so a 100 m² roof carries 400 – 500 caps. In the roof colour they blend in; in a contrasting colour they form rows of dots across the whole roof. Order the accessories in the same container as the sheets and under the same colour name.

How do made-to-order colours fit into an import order?

The minimum order is one 40 ft container, about 5,000 m of sheet, and production takes about 5 days. Colours, profiles and accessories can be mixed in one container. A Thai dealer can therefore stock the five standard colours and add green, white or purple for a particular project in the same shipment, together with the matching ridge pieces. Santiago has exported to Thailand since 2024. Shipments travel with a Form D certificate of origin under the ASEAN agreement, HS code 3925.90.00, and a quality certificate (CQ) with every lot. Prices are quoted per order in writing.

What do red, grey and blue PVC roof tiles look like in daylight?

The short opens with red ASA/PVC tile sheets being carried up to a house, then a flame is put to a stack of tile sheets made from virgin PVC with an ASA top layer. It ends on a blue warehouse roof under installation and grey tile sheets on a roller line at the factory.
