Mr Quyen - Santiago. Posted 21/10/2026

Santiago skylight roofing sheets are translucent glass-fibre composite sheets made in three forms: flat, 6 square waves and 11 square waves. Clear sheets pass up to 80 – 90% of daylight. A factory or warehouse usually needs about 5 – 10% of its roof area in skylight, spread over the roof, with ribs that match the roof sheets beside them.

What types of translucent roofing sheet does Santiago make?

Santiago makes three skylight profiles. All of them have a translucent resin layer reinforced with glass fibre (you can see the fibre mesh inside a clear sheet) and a UV protective layer on top that slows yellowing in the sun. Every sheet is cut to the length you order.

The widths above are the ones on the product pages. Santiago confirms the final dimensions on your quotation, together with the roof sheets they have to lap with. Full details: flat sheet, 6 square waves, 11 square waves.

Which skylight profile fits my roof?

A corrugated skylight sheet has to lap with the roof sheets on both sides, so the choice starts with the roof sheet you already have or plan to buy.

How many skylight sheets does a warehouse roof need?

Plan about 5 – 10% of the roof area as skylight. Above that, the space under the roof can get hot in strong sun. In sheet numbers, it is roughly one skylight sheet for every 10 – 20 roof sheets.

Example: a 40 × 25 m warehouse with an 11-wave roof

ItemFigure
Roof area on plan (pitch ignored)40 m × 25 m = 1,000 m²
Skylight at 5%50 m²
Skylight at 10%100 m²
11-wave skylight sheet needed (1.0 m effective width)50 – 100 m of sheet
Roof sheet runs on the two slopes (40 m ÷ 1.0 m, twice)80 runs
Equivalent full-length skylight runs4 – 8 of the 80

Order by the real slope length, not the plan width, because a pitched roof is a little longer than its plan. Then spread the skylight metres across the bays. Short skylight pieces staggered from bay to bay light the floor more evenly than a single bright line over one aisle, which also puts all the glare and heat in one place.

Clear, white or blue skylight sheets?

Clear sheets give the most light, up to 80 – 90%, and suit stores and loading areas where daylight is meant to replace lamps. White and blue sheets let through less light but spread it and cut glare and heat below. Buyers choose them for workshops, offices and animal houses, where people or livestock spend the whole day under the roof.

How do you look after skylight sheets?

  • Walk only on the purlins, never on a skylight sheet between supports.
  • Wash the dust off once or twice a year, or the light level drops.
  • Skylight sheets are covered by the warranty terms written in your quotation. The 10-year warranty in Santiago's policy is for ASA/PVC sheets and tiles 2.5 mm thick or more.

Can skylight sheets ship with the roof sheets?

Yes. Skylight sheets, ASA/PVC sheets in different colours and profiles, ridge pieces and screws with ASA caps can share one 40 ft container, which holds about 5,000 m of sheet. Production and loading take about 5 days after the order is confirmed.

Frequently asked questions

How much light does a translucent roofing sheet let through?

A clear Santiago skylight sheet lets through up to 80 – 90% of daylight. White and blue skylight sheets let through less but spread the light and reduce glare.

What percentage of a warehouse roof should be skylight?

About 5 – 10% of the roof area, which is roughly one skylight sheet for every 10 – 20 roof sheets, spread over the roof instead of in one strip.

What are Santiago skylight sheets made of?

A translucent resin layer reinforced with glass fibre, with a UV protective layer on top. They are composite sheets, made flat, with 6 square waves or with 11 square waves.

Does the 11-wave skylight sheet fit the 11-wave ASA/PVC sheet?

Both have 20 mm ribs. Send the sizes of your roof sheets and Santiago confirms the side lap before production.

How thick is the flat skylight sheet?

From 0.4 to 3.0 mm, 1,200 mm wide and cut to length. Sheets under 1 mm suit walls and greenhouses; roofs need thicker sheets and closer supports.
